Private Name Servers

What are Private Name Servers?

Private name servers are your own DNS name servers, for example ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com

What are my Private Name Server IP addresses?

These IP addresses are located inside of the welcome e-mail that was sent to you upon sign up.

What are the benefits of Private Name Servers?

Other than "branding" reasons, there are no other real benefits. Many resellers choose to have their own private name servers for simply branding reasons. You can also use our already set up anonymous name servers ns1.websitehostserver.net and ns2.websitehostserver.net.

How do I get my Private Name Servers setup?

You will have to create them at the registrar you purchased your domain name from. Every registrar has a different method of setting up Private Name Servers. You can click on the links of the names of the below domain registrar's to learn how to create name servers.

DirectNIC
Dotster
Enom
GoDaddy
ItsYourDomain
Network Solutions
OpenSRS

If your registrar is not in the above list, look for something along the lines of "Register DNS", "Create DNS" or "Add DNS" from your domain name management portal. If you're confused, please contact your domain registrar and let them know what you are trying to accomplish.

Important Note:

Keep in mind that this is not the same as switching name servers to point to a different hosting provider. You will not be able to switch the name servers on any of your domain names to your private name servers without first creating it at your domain registrar.

Further Assistance:

If you're unable to figure out how to regsiter your private name servers with your registrar, read their FAQ and look for a question along the lines of "How do I register name servers". If you're still unable to figure it out, you will need to e-mail them asking the following:

"I want to create private name servers for my domain name. They are:

ns1.insertyourdomain.com - IPADDRESS (replace the IPADDRESS with the ones in the welcome e-mail)
ns2.insertyourdomain.com - IPADDRESS (replace the IPADDRESS with the ones in the welcome e-mail)

**PLEASE NOTE THAT CURRENTLY THE IP ADDRESSES FOR RESELLER ACCOUNTS ARE:

NS1 = 99.198.112.83
NS2 =  69.175.59.162

**THESE MAY CHANGE IN THE FUTURE AND IF THEY DO WE WILL NOTIFY ALL OUR RESELLERS OF THIS CHANGE WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE CHANGE**

My private name servers have been registered, now what?

Once your name servers are created at the registrar, go ahead and e-mail us so that we can set it up on our end as well.  You can then change the name servers on your domains to your newly created private name servers.
