Domain Name Transfer Instructions (Primary Domain Names)

At Green Geeks we offer all of our shared hosting customers a free domain name
for life which is always the "PRIMARY" domain name on their
account which is the domain they used when they signed up for an account. Now
this primary "free" domain name can be a new domain name which we
register for them or an existing domain name which they can then transfer to us
and which we will continue to renew for free so long as that client is

Please read all of the information below then once you have done so you may
submit your primary domain name and have it transferred to Green Geeks at the DOMAIN TRANSFER FORM

In order for us to transfer a client's existing domain name to our registrar
several steps must take place and our clients' assistance is required. In order
to transfer a domain name to the Green Geeks' Registrar our clients will need
to ensure that several required items and/or actions have been taken
Requirements
Please ensure that you have all of the following required
items and/or actions before you submit your domain transfer request. If you
are looking to transfer a "non-primary" additional domain names (not
the primary domain name of your account) Please visit the knowledge base
article, Transferring non-primary additional domains to Green Geeks.
The following are the required items and/or actions needed (1-6):
1. Domain has been registered for at least 60 days (there is
a domain lock whereby a domain name cannot be transferred until after 60 days
of the original registration).
2. Domain name is not expired or close to expiration date
(expired domains or domains which are within 14 days of their expiration cannot
be transferred and will have to be renewed at the current registrar).
3. Domain name has been unlocked (please contact the current
registrar to do so).
4. Domain's name servers are already pointed to the Green
Geeks name servers (please contact the current registrar to have them update
the domain name's (DNS) name servers to Green Geeks - found in your login
email).
5. You have the domain name EPP - Domain authorization code
(contact your current registrar to obtain this code).
6. You are the administrative e-mail contact person on this
domain name (the administrative email contact person will need to authorize the
domain name transfer once the process has begun).
Things to understand.
By submitting the domain transfer form below you will be
authorizing us to transfer your domain name from your existing domain registrar
to the Green Geeks registrar and your domain name will be subject to our Free
Domain For Life Policy. As a requirement above you will need to have changed
your domain name server settings so that your domain name points to Green Geeks
prior to this domain transfer as the domain name server settings are unable to
be reset during the domain name transfer process which takes between 4-7
business days. In addition your participation is required as once a domain
transfer is submitted to the registrar an email to the administrative email on
file for this domain name and the confirmation link within that email must be
clicked on to verify the consent to transfer the domain name. In addition
PLEASE NOTE that
the Green Geeks domain transfer form is not linked directly with our registrar
and that starting the domain transfer process at our registrar is a manual
process which can take a few hours generally but may take up to a day depending
on when you submit to the domain transfer form and what day of the week it is.

and that this is only the process to transfer your domain name to our

Domain transfers are for the primary domain name on our
clients' accounts and that the domain name you list in the field below must be
