DRUPAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - How does Green Geeks support Drupal users?
To have a Drupal web site your web hosting provider must be
able to meet certain Drupal System Requirements.
You can go here to view the Drupal
System Requirements.
Drupal works best in a linux/unix operating system which is what Green Geeks servers use.
The most current version of Drupal is version 6 with a version 7 scheduled to
come out at some point.
Currently Drupal 6 can only be supported with web hosting companies whose MySQL
is version 4.1 or higher and Drupal version 7 will only be support by MySQL
version 5.0 or higher.
The PHP requirement that Drupal needs to run is that the web hosting company's
PHP version must be at least PHP version 4.3.5 or higher and Drupal recommends
that the PHP version be at least PHP 5.2.x. Drupal Version 7, when it comes out
will only be supported by PHP version 5.2.
GREEN GEEKS SERVERS RUN:
MySQL version 5.0.87 (recommended for Drupal version 6 &the next version 7)
PHP version 5.2.9(recommended for
Drupal version 6 &the next version 7)
You can see more about our server configurations at Green Geeks here.
There is also a note on the Drupal web site regarding MySQL which states:
"NOTE: Drupal makes use of some
features not available on some inexpensive hosting plans so please check that
your host allows database accounts with the following rights:
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, INDEX, ALTER.
These rights are sufficient to run Drupal core 6.x."
Green Geeks MySQL system fully supports the following rights:
SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, INDEX, ALTER.
Please read some of the developers comments to learn more about the Drupal
system requirements at the bottom of their Drupal System Requirements page.
Green Geeks is the Drupal For
Dummies web site hosting provider and is featured in the Drupal For Dummies
book released January 2010.
