WordPress 5.9: Full-Site Editing and Making Your Website Shine!

by Marco Berrocal
Partner Relations, GreenGeeks
We have said it previously during a Webinar we did on Gutenberg, the block editor is changing the way WordPress has done stuff over the past decade. In it, we said that WordPress is ultimately shifting to become both the Content Management System it is today, but also, it wants to compete towards being a full-site editing experience, similar to Wix or even Elementor, which is used with WordPress. A few weeks ago (January 25th to be exact), a new WordPress version came out that has two fundamental changes that are exciting when it comes to a full-site editing experience: the style guide, templates, and template parts. Join us to discuss these exciting new changes coming your way!

What you will learn in this Webinar

Quick overview of Gutenberg

Just in case some of you missed out, we will give another quick spin into Gutenberg. We are going to review some of the blocks and layouts we have used from time to time to create a site editing experience that is looking more and more mature as time goes by.

Style Guide

Style guides are the equivalent of Global Styles in Elementor. We are going to adapt some of them to see how much of a breeze it is to implement style changes across the entire site!

Templates will now be used in full force. We are going to play around with this a bit, and see the powerful transformation that you can do with layouts in a matter of minutes, but with the twist that this is native to WordPress, so the experience is much crisper!

Template Parts

Want to use a different footer on posts than on pages? How about a header that is suitable for a specific time of the year, and once done, you revert back to the way it was? No problem. We are going to create some template parts of our own and see this amazing feature in action.
